LANDLORD
AND TENANT
The
landlord is the lessor, and the tenant the lessee. Under a lease or
tenancy arrangement the landlord covenants exclusive use of the
premises to the tenant. At common law exclusive use is an important
distinction between a tenancy and a licence. The rights and
liabilities of the parties are determined by the covenants in
the lease agreement.
