TENURE

The mode of holding or occupying land. All tenures in Australia except native title have evolved from the crown and tenure describes the relationship of the owner to the crown compare with estate.

The bundle of rights accruing to the owner and occupier range from freehold tenure with a maximum bundle of rights to a limited right to occupy such as an occupation licence. There is a clear difference in tenure between freehold and leasehold.
