Resistance
to the incipient spread of fire, in relation to a ceiling
membrane, means the ability of a ceiling membrane to insulate the
space between the ceiling and roof, or ceiling and floor above, to
limit the temperature rise of combustibles in this space during the
Standard Fire Test to 180 K.
