RECEIPT
FOR PAYMENT OF RENT
A
lessor has an obligation to provide a receipt to tenants when the
rent is paid. If the rent is paid:
- directly into a
bank account-the lessor is not required to give the tenant a receipt.
- in person-a
receipt must be given at that time.
- by another
method-the receipt should be provided or sent by post within 7 days.
A
receipt for rent or bond should include:
- the date of
payment
- the period for
which the payment was made
- which property
the payment was made for
- whether the
payment was for bond or rent.
