POWER
OF ATTORNEY
A
formal contract usually in which one person empowers another to
represent him/her for certain purposes. A common power of attorney
given to the agent is when the principal goes overseas so that the
agent can manage the principal's property. In such a case the power
is cancelled upon the return of the principal.
