ITALIANATE
In
the Italian style, usually meaning the use of a low pitched
roof, asymmetry of plan, round arched windows and square towers. A
decorative style which replaced the post regency
style. It incorporated ideas inspired by Italian villas and has both
symmetrical and asymmetrical qualities. The style is represented by
smooth walls, windows generally grouped in 2s and 3s, and round
headed. Picket fences, and bullnose verandahs.
