GROSS LETTABLE AREA (GLA)

The lettable area as measured by outside boundaries. The GLA is commonly used when leasing small shops, industrial premises and warehouses. However, it is not an efficient measure of the economic area of a building as it does not allow for wasted space, unnecessary columns, and thick walls.

The net lettable area (nla) is a better measure.
