FARM INSURANCE
There are specialist policies for farm insurance. A typical faun comprehensive policy covers the following:
loss from theft
loss from spoilage due to machinery breakdown for example, when the freezer breaks down.
public liability
any financial loss suffered through sickness or accidental injury
damage from fire for farm buildings and their contents
damage from fire for the homestead and its contents
damage and loss of machinery, implements, motor vehicles etc
damage to and loss on gates and fencing
public liability up to $5 million.
CROP INSURANCE
Crop insurance is available with a basic cover against fire, hail and transit. Other features include:
transit cover over grain when in transit to and from point of delivery.
cover against damage to crops caused by livestock not owned by the insured.
cover against any damage caused by another party's chemical overspray.
cover all year round fro grain stored on the insured's property.
provision for a resowing subsidy where crops are damaged by hailstones prior to them reaching "first jointing" and/or "eight leaf" stages.
