The
Claims Review Panel Scheme can determine claims disputes between
consumers and insurers. The Panel determines most disputes but when
fraud is alleged, the matter will be determined by the Referee.
Decisions of the Claims Review Panel Scheme are binding on all
participating insurers where amounts do not exceed $120,000. However,
the Scheme can also recommend settlements involving amounts up to
$290,000. Use of the Claims Review Panel Scheme is free to consumers.
